That Sound You Hear is Me Squealing Like a Teenager

I had a crappy day at work - it was cold and wet, the clients were cranky, and the patients were snarly.  All I wanted to do when I got home was curl up on the sofa and veg. 

Lucky for me, I checked my e-mail before doing so, where I found and message from alert reader Liz W. saying that Chad Brannon was returning to General Hospital for one episode in mid to late December.

I am so majorly stoked about this news, that I am not even going to focus on the negative implication that if he's going to be part of the Rebecca storyline, then Rebecca will still be around in mid to late December. 

No, instead I am going to focus on the fact that I adore Chad Brannon, and that Guza can't possibly do him any worse than he did last time he was in town, so it's all good from here on out.

In honor of Chad's impending cameo, let's take a stroll down Zander memory lane - - -

Zander tells Emily that he loves her  **sob**

Zander and Emily spend their last night together before The Qs send her away  **double sob**

Zander and Liz are trapped in a cave  I'll visualize anything he wants me too

Zander helps Carly prep for her driving test  That accent is fab, humor on GH, what's that?

Zander tells Sonny he threw Carly out (after her car goes over a cliff and they think she's dead) 

Man, the boy was cute and he had range.

Darn it, now I've squandered my whole night watching YouTube. 

Reminding myself of how good parts of General Hospital used to be serves no purpose but to depress me further.

It's back to the sofa for me, at least until December.

Why Must They Toy With My Emotions This Way?

Once again, thanks to my mailman Rocky and his rigorous hunting schedule (it is currently bow season), I am a little behind in reading the soap opera magazines. 

I have always been annoyed by the delivery delay in the past, but upon further reflection, maybe Rocky is trying to protect my mental health (I know, I know, that ship has sailed) by preventing me from reading things that will upset me.

For example:

Finally! Claudia's Killed Off! But Sonny Could Be Next To Die!  Don't tease me Soaps in Depth, a Port Charles without Sonny would be like a world without famine, pollution, or violence, which is to say - - impossible.

"It's Just Like A Horror Movie!"   Yeah, because that's what soap viewers want to see during their love in the afternoon?

Will Smith:  I Wanna Do A Soap!  I know all the cool kids are doing it, but don't succumb to peer pressure.

A Brief Light in the Darkness

The last few days of General Hospital have caused an astronomical increase in my rage-induced migraines and my Arbor Mist consumption, with a severe decrease in my urge to blog. 

Consider yourselves lucky, reading public (hi Mom ), because anything that I may have written in the past three days would have mainly included colorful synonyms for "delusionally unhinged selfish witch" coupled with emoticons exploding and/or banging their head into walls.

I find the current direction of almost every storyline on this show to be repugnant, and I dread having to watch it play out.  If it were not for the impending arrivals of James Franco and Scott Reeves(and the continued greatness of Dominic Zamprogna) I would be taking a mental health break the likes of which I have not contemplated since Sonny left Brenda at the altar in 1997 (I cried my teen-aged heart out for days, seriously, and then didn't watch the show for two whole years).

However, amidst the endlessly painful Carly/Jax conversation and the Nikolas/Liz snogging and Michael reveling in his bloodthirsty (adopted) birthright that was taking place today, was a sentence I have waited the better part of a decade to hear (for those not watching the show anymore, start at minute 6:15) - - - - -

"I don't know what would have happened if I would have left him at the Quartermaines, but I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have killed somebody".

 

Was it good for you?  It was great for me.

Truthfully, Michael might still have killed someone if he had been raised a Quartermaine, he just wouldn't be so fucking flippant about it if he hadn't been reared by gangsters.  That's the truly disturbing part about this whole story (beside Carly's insanity) - - the fact that Michael has absolutely no remorse and viewers are supposed to find him sympathetic.  Whether it was justified or not, you are supposed to feel bad when you take a life.  Heck, I feel terrible for days after I hit a squirrel.

I enjoyed Jason's lightbulb moment today, in spite of the fact that we've seen this culpability conversation before.  It went something like. . . . "Michael probably wouldn't have gotten shot in the head if the Quartermaines had raised him, we're terrible guardians, we'll do better at protecting him in the future, blah, blah, blah..." and nothing ever changed, in fact, it got worse.   I know this on a practical level, but allow me to cling to the positives for a moment - - I sense they will be few and far between this winter.
