Wow, so merely a week into Ron Carlivati's reign and things in Port Charles are moving at a break-neck pace. I haven't decided yet whether that is a good or a bad thing. On one hand, I'm happy to have him jettisoning the losers as fast as possible (goodbye Cassandra, don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya). But on the other hand, I don't want to fly past the impact of Robin's death or Anna or Holly's visits, I'd rather pace myself with those stories. I guess I can't have it both ways, so I'll be grateful for what we're getting right now.
As for Tuesday's show:
Sam and Sonny are both self-centered and fast-forwardable. Although, I did note a flashback to a time when I did not loathe Sonny Corinthos as I whizzed by. *sob* Robin is dead now and it totally sucks.
Patrick and ghostRobin in surgery (more with the sobbing) "you're not a killer, you're a healer" . I'm sorry, Patrick pretty much has to save Jason or Robin's death would have been in vain, but I am fully on-board with his reluctance to do so and the general unfairness of life. (Also, am I the only one totally frustrated by the fact that Robin's death was completely preventable because all she had to do was prop the lab door or have Patrick hold it open when she ran back inside for the protocol? They knew the lab door was going to lock, Patrick warned her it would, why didn't they just prop the door open so it couldn't lock with her inside? The only thing worse than a legacy character death is a ridiculously stupid legacy character death). And also, Sam was being a complete and total asshat badgering Patrick into performing the surgery barely an hour after his wife's tragic death. I hope Jason wakes up Jason Quartermaine and has absolutely no recollection who Sam is.
Maxie has become such a whiny, ridiculous waste of space that I don't even care how devastated she is by Robin's death (nevermind the horror that the writers actually made her responsible for it), just give me more Mac and Anna. Maxie's feelings are irrelevant to me. I could stand a little more of this serious side of Spinelli though, his scenes Monday with Mac were really good and touching. Side Note: John J York is rockin it bigtime right now.
I like the big bad Helena Cassadine returning to teach little Ethan a lesson for playing with fire and failing to respect the Spencer/Cassadine feud. I'm okay with the reveal that Ethan is really Robert's son (that was the better way to go from the beginning with his parentage), and I think Tristan's visit could be a nice way to escort Nathan Parson's out of town.
Now, about the Mannings - - I have no objection to bringing Starr to town, lord knows Bob Guza saw to it that every kid under thirty is related to Sonny Corinthos so there is no potential romance in the younger set without her fresh blood. I'm even looking forward to McBain, Todd and Blair making brief visits. Dude, if McBain would hook-up with Sam it would totally MAKE my month (like for example, if Jason didn"t remember Sam after his surgery and McBain had the strange sense he'd met her somewhere before . . . ). And I'd be thrilled with any displaced OLTL viewers who check GH out because their favorites are here (at least temporarily) and happen to stick around.
Here is what I'm not thrilled with - - more dead toddlers. You know, and I'm also not thrilled that they killed off Patrick Thornhart's only son either. I actually watched One Life to Live fifteen years ago when Patrick and Marty were a thing, and that is just so sad. Just because General Hospital viewers don't know who they are, doesn't mean their legacies were expendable.
And another thing, why is the death of this little child and her father ALL about Michael and his guilt for not saving them instead of the tragedy that a baby has had her life cut short? I am having very uncomfortable Guza-flashbacks right now and it is seriously messing with my sense of hope for the future.
