Now that I'm all caught-up on General Hospital once again, it seems an appropriate time to wade back into the daily recapping pool. I have to admit, I hadn't realized how much fast-forwarding benefited my impression of the show as a whole until I began watching episodes in real-time again.
Oh dear
Wednesday's show began with Jason's recap for Sam of her drug-induced violation by Franco. Note to Garin Wolf: THIS is exactly what viewers hated about your predecessor; the physical and sexual abuse of women and teenage Michaels. Jeepers creepers, this is SO disturbing, are they going for a paternity story with this? Because, and I can not overstate this - ick
. My revulsion aside, I thought Kelly Monaco and Steve Burton were excellent in today's scenes, and the scenes themselves were uncharacteristically tasteful. Alas, as an audience member, I am not entirely sympathetic to JaSam and their plight because a.) they knew Franco was lurking and elected to stay in Hawaii rather than have home-court advantage by returning to PC with Shawn and Carly and b.) (and far more grevious an offense) their actions have proved Carly to be RIGHT about Franco's threat, and that I simply can not abide.
Sonny visits Olivia to talk about Kate. Olivia is hiding a pregnancy test not-so-subtly behind her back, but luckily Sonny is too focused on his own possible intercourse to worry about the consequences of anyone else's. Am I the only one who finds it disgusting that no one EVER takes pregnancy tests in the bathroom on soaps? Why are you waving a stick that you have just urinated on around your living room? Olivia tells Sonny that Kate is scared of getting her heart shattered again. I'm pretty sure she was talking emotionally, but I feel like the physical danger of actually being shot in the heart (again) should really be Kate's prime deterrent from rekindling her romance with Sonny
. And also, what kind of forty-something woman doesn't know how to prevent pregnancy, especially when she was an accidental mom at fifteen? Olivia, why are your tubes not tied? (unless it's to give me hope for a JOlivia baby someday) Ridiculous.
At Jake's (yay for the reappearance of Jake's and Coleman
) Steve is nursing his impending fatherhood panic with a beer. Coleman accurately deduces that he could use something stronger, and also that it's a woman problem. I would like to go on record now as guessing that the creepy clown terrorizing everyone on Halloween was Steven's Memphis ex and not Dr. Lisa Niles. I would also like to go on record as being in-favor of Steve getting his own actual storyline, but being confused as to why he would practically bully some woman into taking this job at GH when he appears to be scared to see her again. Matt arrives to drown his sorrows as well, his trial-patient died before Matt's experimental protocol could cure him. Some people really have no manners.
Speaking of Carly, she and Shawn have managed to do what the PCPD could not (big shocker there) - - discover Lisa's lifeless corpse, floating in the harbor - go team mob!!
Ronnie and Padilla investigate, and by that I mean that Ronnie grills Shawn and Carly mercilessly, as if they are suspects. I am in favor of incoveniencing Carly whenever possible, I just hate that Ronnie's overzealous behavior makes Carly look like the victim here. Shawn decides that he and Carly should pretend they were on a romantic stroll through the warehouse district to throw the police off their true agenda which was arguing about why they're not currently enjoying romantic strolls.
I wouldn't object to a potential Carly/Shawn pairing down the line, that's clearly the direction we're headed. I'm even more strongly in favor of a Shawn/lacking a shirt pairing, however - - could he go undercover as a longshoreman for some reason?
Robin catches Patrick sneaking home late with wet feet. I can only assume that viewers are meant to think he was busy dumping Lisa's body in the harbor. Scrubs cuddle on the couch and talk about taking a long weekend to get away for a while.
They are just so winning, I don't know how the actors manage to make a conversation about crosswords and neighborly feuds over newspapers so entertaining, but they do. Somehow, their adorable conversation devolves into a tickle fight during which Robin pops a stitch and has to run back to GH to have it re-sutured.
Kate's car breaks down (or was sabotaged) in the middle of the night. She calls Sonny for help, but Johnny arrives first. Kate is reluctant to let him help. This is where I say "Johnny can look under MY hood anyday"
. Unfortunately, he doesn't have the wrench he uses for fixing cars with him, only the one he uses for cracking skulls. Dude, why are they trying to make him so creepy lately? Sonny and Olivia arrive shortly thereafter. Olivia teases Johnny that he's good with his hands, but she's better. They still sizzle *sigh*. Olivia has another dizzy spell, so Johnny Hollywood's her home. All together now, awwww
Kate and Sonny wait for the tow-truck. They reminisce, they kiss, I refuse to discuss the subject.
Back at General Hospital, Steve, Matt and Robin are present when Padilla announces that Lisa Niles' body has been found, and it appears that foul-play was involved . . . . duh duh duh . . . (
no effing kidding Sherlock!!)
Would now be a good time to discuss the fact that the ridiculosity of covering up this murder is on-par with the great Claudia cover-up of 2009?
No?
Let's just call this one another subject that I refuse to discuss.
