Missing the Boat

 

So, having finally mustered up the intestinal fortitude to watch Friday's episode of General Hospital(fortunately for my mental and gastric health, we had edited away from the truly disturbing hotel-room scenes and into the PCPD with Jax), I have the following to say - -  way to go Ingo!!

 

Good on ya' mate  , what with the drama and the despair and the utter disbelief Jax displayed at having been set-up by Sonny.  It's kinda nice that Ingo Rademacher got a chance to show some dramatic chops before being unceremoniously dropped after 15 yrs with the show. 

 

 

As a rule, I'm not a fan of overly-emotional whiny or cry-y men, but I have made exceptions in the past, and this will have to be another one.  I really felt for Jax in these particular scenes and I appreciate the way Ingo has played this entire storyline as a whole.  I have never once gotten the impression from his acting choices that Jax is being vindictive as Carly and Sonny claim (and Guza no-doubt intends), I have always felt that he genuinely has Joss's best interests at heart. 

 

No matter how the story ends, Ingo is getting a chance to shine and showing the audience another side of Jax in the process.  It's truly a shame that the writers missed the boat for all these years by back-burnering Jax in deference to the all mighty-mafia.

 

Paging Garin Wolf, it's not too late to remedy this mistake.

And Another Thing . . . .

 

. . . . where does Sonny Corinthos get off lecturing ANYONE about taking children away from their mother?

 

Yesterday, I was so hopped-up about the completely ludicrous assertion that Jax doesn't get to worry about Joss's safety because "he knew who Carly was when he married her", that I didn't even get as chance to rant about Sonny's most recent hypocrisy.

 

Fortunately, the lovely, talented, and youtube-obsessed ladies over at despair in the afternoon, already have that arena covered - -

"Sonny Corinthos: winner and reigning champion of the Entitled, Vindictive, Hypocritical Ass award"

 

Indeed.

 

And yet again, further proof that the head writer can't be bothered to watch his own show.

 

I tell you, the end of July can not come soon enough.

The Most Ridiculous Argument EVER

 

I swear to goodness, if one more person tells Jax that "he knew Carly had kids with Sonny" when he married her, I will lose what is left of my cotton-pickin' mind. 

 

I am so tired of the general populace of Port Charles acting as if the fact that Jax was aware that Carly shared children with a mobster before he himself procreated with her somehow negates his right to protect his daughter from bodily harm.

 

This argument would be akin to telling a woman who married a recovering-alcoholic in the middle of a five-year sober streak that she doesn't have the right to file for protective custody after her spouse falls off the wagon and starts driving around town drunk with their toddler in the back seat - -

 

 

Judge:  I'm sorry ma'am, but you knew he was an alcoholic when you married him, therefore I am going to grant him joint custody and allow him to continue endangering your child's life, because you should have known better than to have kids with him in the first place.

 

Don't be absurd.

 

The reality of a situation changes as time passes.

 

Of course I think Jax is a moron for marrying, let alone having kids, with Carly, but that doesn't change the fact that he has the right to protect those kids from the constant danger that she exposes them to.  Michael hadn't yet been shot in the head when Jax married Carly, that's a HUGE game-changer as far as I'm concerned. 

 

In fact, when they decided to have Joss, Carly was in the process of cutting Sonny completely out of her life and having Jax adopt Morgan so that he would be safer.  At that time, Jax had the very reasonable expectation that Joss would be protected because she would not be exposed to Sonny's violent lifestyle at all.

 

When the reality of that situation changed, Jax had every right to change the way he responded to it in the context of his daughter's safety.  Jax has every right to ask for sole-custody, and he should damn-sure get it too.
