It's been a little while since I did a movie-themed recap, and today seemed like as good a day as any to get back into the saddle.
In honor of Sophia Loren, today's recap takes it's title from her 1959 movie - - That Kind of Woman.
We're off to a good start as the episode begins at General Hospital, with staff members discussing an incoming medical (not mobular) emergency - - there are two accident victims, each requiring emergency surgery. Patrick takes one, and reluctantly agrees to let Robin and Lisa take the other. Why is knuckle-dragging Patty back all of a sudden? Lisa's patient dies during surgery, so Robin takes her to Jake's to commiserate
. Lisa proves herself to be very much the female version of early-Patrick, she is the kind of woman who likes to be responsible for life and death outcomes. Back at GH, the victim's brother is irate that his sister died. Patrick and Steven Webber butt heads after Steven steps in to diffuse the situation.
And looks adorable in his reading glasses
while doing so, might I add.
At Lulu's apartment, Dante and Lucky are comparing notes, and have deduced that Franco is a serial killer who photographs fictional crime scenes for his artwork, and then goes out and murders someone to re-create them in real life. Charming. Ducky (credit Mary for the nic-name) realize that they can't act on their suspicions without blowing Dante's cover. Lucky, by the way, is practically giddy
about the prospect of Lulu dating a cop.
Maxie and Lulu break into Franco's apartment where they find his Wall o' Jason. Lulu's getting a bad feeling
, but Maxie still thinks he's just a wacky artist. Awesome agent arrives, threatening to turn them in to the cops. Clearly, she is the kind of woman who believes that the best defense is a good offense. The agent informs them that Franco has gone back to France.
JaSam and Spinelli try to get more information on Franco. Somehow, this requires showing Spinelli the compromising photo of Maxie. It also requires a lot more blah blah about Jason's virtuous soul, Franco's danger, blah, blah, fast-forward
. Maxie shows up and Jason manages to convince her that Franco really is dangerous and not merely a misunderstood artist.
Tracy is worried about Luke's moping. Nikolas arrives, and fisticuffs ensue
. Fortunately, Lucky breaks up the "fight" before Luke's stunt-double can be seriously injured.
Lucky wants to know what's changed the truce between Nik and Luke, but Luke refuses to spill. Luke wants to know how this distance between them happened - - "how did I become the first one you doubt and the last one you trust?"
Hint: rhymes with "mob luza".
Dante surprises Lulu by waiting at the apartment for her - - she shrieks, loudly. She is not the kind of woman one wants to sneak up on. They banter, it's cute
. She insists that they're not dating, he kisses her and then runs into the door on his way out. The boy is way smoother than his Pops. I could like them as a couple.
Finally, from the "So wrong, it's right"-department comes my favorite part of today's show - - Coleman and Kate at Jake's. Kate notices the movie poster for Nine (why is ABC promoting Nine? I mean, it's not Campbell's soup or anything) and they discuss Coleman's crush on Sophia Loren - - he's seen all of her movies. Really, even the ones in Italian? Even Grumpier Old Men?? They discuss Crimson, and Franco, and Maxie. According to Coleman, Kate is the kind of woman who can do anything she puts her mind to. Who knew Coleman could be so insightful? And almost non-skeevy?
Really, I'm not kidding - -
Colate for the win!! Why is Kate recurring when she has the potential to be so fabulous?
Meanwhile, outside Maxie and Lulu's apartment, a dark figure spray-paints CO77X onto the sidewalk.
Cue sinister music

I think it should be Katman not Colate, and they have the potential to steal my heart just like Max & Diane. We NEED more Katman and way less Sonny with ANYONE!!

ColKate or Katman - - I don't care what we call them BUT they are crazy good together. Who would have thunk it? Ha. Neither of these actors should be recurring; but even if they are, GH could still use them \ show them to us way more than they have been. These two background characters are far superior to many of the frontline folks. Kate and Coleman are flirty and fun!!!!

"Why is Kate recurring when she has the potential to be so fabulous?"
question of the year, seriously. to even let this talent slip off contract in the first place, i believe, is one of the major factors for it's decline in ratings this year. such a brilliantly entertaining character, i can't imagine not finding it a joy to write her.

I wish GH would put Megan Ward back on contract. I've missed Kate this past year and Sonny or no Sonny she's an amazing character & Megan Ward a terrific actress/asset to GH.S

Love Kate and Coleman together. Neither one of these actors should be recurring because they are both more interesting then the characters that are front and centre these days. I really miss Megan Ward and she is definitely has a lot of potential and she can pull off any type of scene. I watch now just for Kate.

Bring on the ColKate!!! It is a crying shame that Megan Ward is recurring and we rarely see the fabulous Kate. I started watching because of Kate and I stopped watching because of the lack of Kate.
