Friday's episode of General Hospital left me with an unfamiliar feeling, I can't quite put my finger on it, but I think it may have been . . . . . . enjoyment?
My rational mind knows that it would be foolish to get used to this sensation since it was no-doubt an aberration that is bound to be short-lived, but my optimistic heart can't help celebrating it for the joy that it was. Friday's episode was really quite amusing (intentionally, for the most part).
The Highlights:
Little Molly winning big at the Dunk-a-Hunk booth.
Sonny's interaction with the kids - - why can't they play Sonny this way more often?
Mac and Alexis defending each other against Andrea Floyd's accusations.
Matt & Lulu and Dominic & Lulu - - light-hearted, flirty, and fun.
The brief (keyword, brief) re-appearance of Anthony Zacchara (whack-a-mole,
)
Jason & Sam sleuthing in the hallway at the MetroCourt.
Diane & Max's argument about his "boytoy"
status.
Robin and Patrick (in a towel) discussing her ongoing murder investigation.
* * * *
The Lowlights:
Spinelli dressed as a clown.
Anything involving Rebecca.
The completely unnecessary gun-porn.
Claudia luring Kristina onto the Ferris Wheel (is this another ill-fated hit attempt?)
Andrea Floyd's less than subtle attempt(s) to poison Edward.
* * * *
All in all, it was a fairly enjoyable episode with loads of cast interaction and levity which is uncommon (but most welcome) amidst all of the usual darkness and violence. Fun is not usually the F-word that I associate with General Hospital.
I am loathe to criticize anything that gives the awesome John Ingle more screen-time, but I have to admit that it bothers me a tad that Edward's been having assignations at the MetroCourt with some cheap blonde floozy. Something about that seems wrong at this point in Edward's life (the fact that TIIC are about to make him guilty of vehicular manslaughter also annoys me).
I also had to laugh at Robin when she said Max was "a good shot" - - - am I the only one who remembers that Max couldn't seem to hit the stationary Lincoln Towncar three feet in front of his face in a parking garage when undeadDiego was in the process of kidnapping Sam and Liz several years ago? Seriously, Max is like the worst shot on the fictional-bodyguarding-planet.
What was my favorite part of Friday's episode?
Did I already mention the Dunk-A-Hunk Booth?
So totally worth an hour of my life.
Seriously, ABC is wasting their money on special effects and pyrotechnics.
This is the way to audience interest.

ITA, all hunk-a-dunk all the time!!
