So, I got myself a few days behind on General Hospital last week, which I try never to do because then the task of catching up becomes uber-daunting and I end up killing time doing really important tasks like alphabetizing my spice cupboard instead of watching my DVR, and then it's really late and I'm cranky anyway by the time I force myself to watch, and well, then the show itself almost always sucks, and then I want to slit my wrists.
So anyway, in spite of the above-mentioned dire consequences, I let myself get a little behind last week, and a funny thing happened when I caught up this weekend - - it wasn't terribly painful. Thursday's episode in particular, was not horrible.
Molly and Nikolas having breakfast at Kelly's was adorable
. nuMolly is really a winning little actress, and Tyler was surprisingly good in their scenes as well. I don't know why I say surprisingly, it's just that Spencer's always MIA so I've never seen TC act with a kid before, I guess I wasn't expecting him to look so natural. Enter Alexis, which made the scenes even better
.
Scrubs and Matt at the hospital - yay for the Scorpio-Drake extended family doing doctorly things
(okay, they were talking about the Brianna Hughes murder case, but then there was the hand-glue-head-removal thing which was doctorly, sort-of).
Lulu and Dante - - cute, flirty
banter, I could dig them given time.
Lulu and Matt - - also intriguing
. Matt was more charming than smarmy for a change, and I like it, the writers need to give him more to do more often.
Monica being all maternal and wonderful and understanding with Rebecca
. Yes, Rebecca needs to die in a toxic ball related explosion, but I'll take any excuse for Quartermaine goodness, especially in the form of Monica.
Johnny and Dante
- - I could maybe enjoy them as a bromance down the line. You know, after Dante arrests Sonny and Johnny leaves the mob after turning state's witness . . . and pigs fly.
Olivia and Kate discussing the unfairness of keeping Dante a secret from Sonny - - zzzzzz
.
Olivia trying to boss Dante's boss around - - seriously, stay out of it Mom
. It turns out that I can only tolerate her in scenes with Johnny and/or Dante, otherwise I'm back to my "FF all things Olivia" policy.
Speaking of the miracle that is Dante, I even enjoyed the hang-over morning-after scenes between he and Rebecca (another character for whom I have a liberal FF policy). After a stellar week, Dante tops off his dialogue of the day hit parade with the following gem:
Rebecca: Hey, thank you for not taking advantage of me last night.
Dominic: Hey, I'm a gentleman - - you didn't notice?
Rebecca: Hah, you're kind of sweet, in a completely obnoxious kind-of way.
Dominic: Hah, yeah, I get that a lot, {under his breath} that, and nothing else.
Did someone just imply that Sonny Corinthos' son has trouble getting laid?
I don't think we're in Port Charles anymore, Foster.
Wherever we are, I like it.
