I tuned in to Friday's episode expecting to see pretty much the same thing I see on every other day in Port Charles - - death and disappointment.
Honestly, I expected the much-hyped Karaoke Night to be a total bust, similar to every other "event" that ABC has previously (and erroneously) over-promoted for General Hospital as being the event "that will change everything!!!".
Now that it has finally begun, I must say - - I am pleasantly surprised by karaoke night (at least so far). Actually, I thought the entire episode was decently done, overall.
*
*
The decent:
Coleman
, just gotta love him, nobody does "pimp" like he does.
*
Dante - - teasing his mother, meeting with his greasy contact in the laundromat, or suicidally confronting Sonny
- - the guy isn't dull, that's for sure.
*
Diane negotiating to get a "win" for Alexis from Sonny and Jason, and then eviscerating the ADA when she had the nerve to remove Alexis from the case - - - total awesomeness!!
*
The return of Papa Zucchini - - hmmm, wonder what he wants to tell Jason
*
The Spencer Family
(non-mobular family interaction? on GH? don't question it, let's just celebrate
)
*
*
The not-so-decent:
Carly and her psychic premonitions
*
The interminable build-up to Spixie and their "courtly love" karaoke
*
*
The totally awesome:
The absence of Michael (at least for one day)
*
Robin and Patrick
singing Time of My Life - - squeeeeeee
Exactly :-)
Panic attack-off anyone? Hilarious with a nod to a Sonny that wasn't a waste of space and the destruction of GH. GO ALEXIS!!!
Diane fishing in the Borg's pockets for his phone? Actual intentional funny .... again in the same scene, same episode, same week, same month? Holy Crap!
Scrubs as Baby & Johnny with humor and banter and sexy good fun all thrown in? How did Guza not scrap this genius delightful interaction between two DOCTORS on GH? Was Evil Bob kidnapped or something?
