Okay, so Ingo Rademacher, who plays my favorite white-knight, corporate-raiding, harpy-marrying, Australian Adonis, Jasper Jacks, has now become a father.
If I had to take bets on whether this will actually settle him down from his hippie, bachelor, free-wheeling ways, I would say ‘yes’. Which, is totally great news for General Hospital fans, because now, the writers won’t have to come up with excuses for Jax to be off the canvas for weeks at a time, while Ingo’s busy surfing. Which is really benefitting of everyone since ‘creativity’ (or 'believability' for that matter) isn’t really the current regime’s strong-suit.
In any event, Ingo, and his lovely fiancé Ehiku, have named their son "Peanut". Yes, peanut like Cameron Mathison calls Rebecca Budig, because she’s so tiny. Peanut as in, Geroge Washington Carver. Peanut as in, the goober. You know, I think if the child had been a girl I almost could have lived with this, but as it is, they are just really setting the poor boy up for a lifetime of ridicule.
Now, I say this from a position of experience, as a woman who’s name is Elvish (not Elvis-h, rather, pointy-eared, santa’s helpers Elf-ish). Childhood is tough enough without having a name that 1.) no one has ever heard off, 2.) is sexually ambiguous, and 3.) no one can pronounce. My parents, and JRR Tolkien, really were the bane of my existence during my formative years.
Elvish? Seriously? My parents couldn’t find something in Klingon that they liked? Sorry, that’s another issue my therapist and I are working on, in addition to my Logan-induced homicidal tendencies.
In any event, having known how difficult it was to grow up with an unusual name, I myself, would never subject my own child to that scorn - - it’s Jane or John all the way!!
I’d think Ingo and Ehiku would know of what I speak, but maybe they handled the challenge with panache and expect their own child to do the same? I mean, you just know his classmates are going to end up calling him goober.
All kidding aside, congratulations to Ingo and Ehiku on the new addition to their family. As long as the child is healthy, nothing else matters. I have no doubt little Peanut will be ‘hanging ten’ with Mom and Dad in no time.
